Habit of the Month - Support Materials

Habit 1: Be Proactive

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

1. Imagine Your Goals
Habit 2 is about picturing what you want to do or who you want to become. It helps you think about the future and make choices that bring you closer to what you want for yourself, your family, and at school.

2. Setting Goals Matters
Setting goals gives everyone a direction and purpose. It’s like setting out on a trip with a map! Families can make goals together, which brings everyone closer and shows kids that their choices today can shape their future.

3. Think Ahead
When you know what you want to accomplish, it’s easier to avoid things that might get in the way. This habit helps you stay focused on what’s important and ignore distractions that don’t lead to your goal.

4. Make Choices that Move You Forward
Begin with the End in Mind encourages you to make choices that get you closer to your goals. Instead of just reacting, you’re deciding how to act to get the result you want. It helps families and kids feel in charge of their lives.

5. Know Your Values
Start by thinking about what’s most important to you and your family. Knowing your values makes your choices feel right. A family motto can be a great reminder of these values!

6. Practice Problem-Solving
When you picture the end result, you become a better problem-solver. If you run into a problem, think about how you want things to turn out, then make a plan to get there. This makes it easier to overcome challenges.

7. Use it for Big Goals and Small Tasks
Habit 2 helps with big goals and everyday stuff. When you think about the outcome—whether it’s finishing homework or cleaning up a space—you understand why it matters and stay more motivated.

8. Help Each Other Stay on Track
When your family has a shared goal or vision, you can encourage each other to stick with it. Habit 2 is all about supporting one another and growing together.

9. Think About the Legacy You Leave
This habit helps you think about the impact you want to have. When you make choices with kindness, respect, and responsibility, you’re building a legacy of good actions that others will remember.
