Rowlett Elementary Academy Welcomes New Principal Scott Flynn
The Rowlett Academy Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Flynn as the next Principal of Rowlett Elementary Academy.
Mr. Flynn was selected following an extensive search process led by incoming Head of Schools and outgoing Elementary Principal Cathy Choate. After a comprehensive interview process that included a panel of elementary school leaders, his appointment was approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting on June 10, 2026.
Mr. Flynn currently serves as Principal of Oneco Elementary School, where he has led efforts to strengthen school culture, support teachers, and improve student achievement. Bringing almost 20 years of educational experience and a proven record of academic growth in Manatee County schools, he is committed to ensuring every student is empowered to succeed.
Throughout the selection process, Mr. Flynn demonstrated a student-centered approach, a commitment to building strong relationships with families and staff, and a belief in creating a collaborative school community built on trust, high expectations, and meaningful learning experiences.
As Mr. Flynn transitions into his new role, he will be supported by both Mrs. Choate and current Assistant Principal Ms. Mihija Daniel, ensuring a smooth transition and continued focus on the excellence that families have come to expect from Rowlett Elementary Academy .
Flynn's appointment carries a special significance for the Rowlett community. His father, Mr. Brian Flynn, served as Rowlett Academy's founding principal, and Flynn Hall stands today as a reminder of his lasting impact on the school. Mr. Scott Flynn now joins Rowlett, bringing his own vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence to the next chapter of the school's story.
