What is Families Helping Families?

Families Helping Families is a food bank located right on the Rowlett campus. The mission of our food bank is to provide support to our own Rowlett families. Our weekly food collection program will begin soon!

 

How Can You Help?

Once the program begins, have your child bring in non-perishable, unexpired food items and place them in the collection boxes located at the entry points of the school. Boxes will be located in the foyer near the front office, the car loop entrance near the Art room, and in Flynn Hall. Place items in a bag with your teacher’s name on it. Every Thursday all items will be collected and taken to our food bank. Points are awarded for each item donated and at the end of the month, the class with the most points will win a Popsicle/Ice Cream Party or another reward! Each week, “high priority” items will be announced on Bloomz and Facebook. These items will be worth bonus points and can help your class win. Let the competition begin!

 

Volunteers Join our team!

Each Thursday we collect food from the collection boxes immediately after drop-off. Collection usually takes no longer than an hour, and younger siblings are welcome to help. We have a lot of fun and it’s a very rewarding volunteer opportunity. We can also use help distributing food to the families. “Adopt-a-Family” program. Your tax-deductible donations support the purchase of gift cards for families to buy perishables items such as milk, cheese, tortillas, and bread. The cost to feed one family, for one month, is $25. Please consider a one-time or monthly donation through the “Adopt-a-Family” program. Please detach this form and return to school in an envelope marked “Families Helping Families.” We graciously accept cash or check donations. Please make checks payable to “Rowlett Academy”.
