Welcome to Mrs. DuBois' 4/5 ESE Resource Classroom

Hi! I am Tiffany DuBois and I am a Special Education/ESE Teacher for 4th & 5th Grade. This will be my 13th year teaching and 11th year here at Rowlett. I have taught a variety of grades K-5, reading intervention and ESE. I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 12 years (10/10/10) and we share my 16 year old stepson, Steven who is a junior this year at Parrish Community.  We have a six year old, a Roweltt 1st grader, Wesley. I am passionate about all the roles I hold close to my heart- wife, mom, teacher, daughter, sister and friend. Here at Rowlett, I hope to be a resource, a constant and a cheerleader for my students. My most important job is to provide a safe place for them to excel and grow while supporting learning inside and outside of the classroom.

What exactly do students do when they work with me? My students have a range of individualized goals that we work on in small groups or one on one that will help strengthen their foundation or gaps in learning. This could range anywhere from learning strategies to help strengthen their ability to decode (read), encode (spell/write), vocabulary, phonics, fluency, comprehension, problem solving, responding to text, fact fluency, etc. If I am pushing into a general education classroom, students will be working on tasks or strategies that help supplement or build their understanding across all content areas. In addition to working with students, I also monitor their progression on their goals, write progress reports and conduct annual IEP meetings with each student's IEP Team.

In the ESE Resource Classroom, we collectively service students K-5. We do not have a standard supply list, but are always in need of hand sanitizer, Kleenex, pencils, cayons, expo markers, index cards, highlighters, composition notebooks, folders, card stock and colored copy paper.

As an ESE Resource Teacher, we do not hand out a supply list, we often depend on other teachers to give us extras or we use our classroom supply money to buy everyday supplies. We tend to use a lot of classroom supplies everyday as well as supplemental materials, hands on activities, manipulatives, etc to meet the needs of their individualized goals. In my classroom, we work together to help enhance their growth, bridge the gaps in their learning and supplement their grade level instruction across a variety of content areas.

On my wishlist, you will see a variety of resources that will help make 2022-2023 the best year yet. Thank you for considering any donation to our classroom!

A practice some teachers have embraced inside and outside the classroom is a daily gratitude practice. Every day, either first thing in the morning or at night before bed, you recall 3-5 things you are grateful for from either the day before or that day. True gratitude practice stays away from the big, open ended things like "I am thankful for my family," "I am thankful for my house," "I am thankful for my job." Not that you are NOT thankful, but its aim is to find the small things in life, in your day to day, that you are truly grateful for. Very specific, not open ended. I am grateful for this practice and the ability to bring it into discussions with my students
