History

William Monroe Rowlett Academy for Arts and Communication is a public charter school located in central Manatee County, Florida. The school was named for William Monroe Rowlett, former Superintendent of Public Instruction in Manatee in the late 1890s. Opened in the 2000-2001 school year, Rowlett was the first full-choice magnet school in the District that opened under the leadership of Mr. Brian Flynn.  In 2014, Rowlett Academy opened its doors as a public charter school.
 
More than 900 students attend Rowlett, all by choice. This commitment by parents to the school creates a strong community atmosphere. The school features a theme of Performing Arts and Communication.
